Day 2 of Asylum training began yesterday (technically day 1) because the first day was the athletic assessment. Anyways it was Speed and Agility — I jumped rope, danced my way through the speed ladder doing the Agility Heisman, and bear crawled til my abs and calves went numb. It was definitely intense and fun which in my opinion is an indicator of a great workout.
What I’ve been noticing with these kinds of workouts is that I don’t usually push myself as hard as I could. I ended this workout thinking “Yeah I probably could have gone harder”. But if I really expect results from this, I’m going to have to push it like no other. Especially because there’s nobody there to push me to go harder. It’s just me, some Asylum DVDs, and a fitness instructor who’s doing the best he can to motivate me through the TV. Even more if, it would have been a waste of over $100.
I guess in-home workouts make it easy for people to give up on themselves or not push themselves as hard as they can. I mean if you give up there’s nobody there but yourself. But in the same sense, you’d be giving up on the most important part of the home workout-fitness equation ..Yourself. I guess if I’m gonna spend over $100 on a workout that I have to do myself, I might as well motivate myself to try it out til its fullest..and hopefully get the results it says I can.
On another note…
The last time I achieved great results from at-home workout was Billy Blanks Tae-Bo series. I loved the energy, the positive motivation, and the spirit of Billy which definitely led me to believe in myself and achieve the fitness goals that I wanted. Now I place my energy and time into Asylum hoping it will lead me to a new level of athletic fitness. Now all I have to do is keep my eye on the prize..
On a totally other note..I find it funny how Shaun T and all the guys in the video have their shirts off. I mean I know it’s a fitness video and all but must they always be half naked?
